Production of roasted seeds
It is certain that sunflowers have been cultivated and the kernels processed in the territory what is now Ukraine since the 18th century.
Roasting and eating sunflower seeds together is part of Ukrainian life — the communal “seed cracking” is particularly characteristic and traditional here.
Originally, people in rural village communities, in families and in the suburbs of developing cities would “crack” and eat roasted kernels together at the end of a long and busy day — in this context, news was exchanged, chatting about life, singing — in short: one was in community.
